Magic always lurks in ordinary folk, but those who polish it up will be a light to their family. Such a thing happened with the daughter of an auto-rickshaw driver. Manya Singh from Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh crowned runner up of VLCC Femina Miss India 2020. While Manasa Varanasi a computer science engineer from Telangana won Miss India 2020 crown, however, Manya drew the attention of the nation along with the winner.

“My blood, sweat and tears have amalgamated into food for the soul and courage to pursue my dreams. To uplift my father, my mother, and my young brother, here I am today to show the world that all is possible if you are committed to yourself,” Manya said before being crowned.

Manya went through many hardships where she had to do many jobs while being diligent to support her aim, not putting burden on her parents Omprakash Singh and Manorama.

‘I’ve spent numerous nights without food and sleep. I’ve spent many afternoons walking for miles on end. My blood, sweat, and tears have amalgamated into courage to pursue my dreams. Being a rickshaw driver’s daughter, I never had the opportunity to attend school as I had to start working in my teens. All the clothes I had were hand-me-downs. I yearned for books, but luck wasn’t in my favour. Eventually, my parents mortgaged whatever little jewellery my mother had to ensure that I paid my exam fees in order to earn a degree”, she said in a post shared by the Official Instagram Account of Miss India.

Her alma matter – Thakur College of Science and Commerce in Mumbai felicitated her while a grand auto-rickshaw rally has been organised.

Manya’s attitude of not giving up will inspire many common folks to dream the uncommon and bring magic into life. She proved that diligence and courage never fails!
