The Multitalented Manjima Mohan

It is a common belief that actors are mostly uneducated. But the coming trend proves it wrong; they even hold degrees in most complicated subjects like Mathematics, such as Actress Manjima Mohan who debuted as a child artist in the ’90s into Malayalam films later made her lead role debut in 2015 Tamil Film Oru Vadakkan Selfie with Nivin Pauly. She’s well-known in the Telugu industry with Nagachaitanya starrer ‘Sahasam Swasaga’ directed by Gowtham Menon. She received Best Actress Debut in 2017 Filmfare Awards South.

Her real name is Priyadarshini, hails from Tiruvananthapuram, Kerala, she’s the daughter of Cinematographer Vipin Mohan and Classical dancer Kalamandalam Girija. Manjima pursued her graduation in BSc Mathematics at Stella Maris college Chennai. She was the leading child artist in the Malayalam industry and hosted a call-in TV show aired on Surya TV and best known then for her role in Sundara Purashan (2001).

She recently made to spotlight as she replaced Amala Paul in the Malayalam remake of Hindi blockbuster Queen, entitled Zam Zam. She also got good remarks in Nandamuri Balakrishna Starrer NTR biopic franchise. She’s also appearing in a Vijay Sethupathi starrer Tughlaq Dubar where Manjima plays the role of Vijay Sethupathi’s sister.

The Math genius also has a keen talent in directing films where she initially worked as an assistant director before appearing as a lead actress. She has plans of directing a story, initially written by her father Mohan, however, a decision is yet to be made whether her father Vipin Mohan or Manjima, going to direct the film.
