Karisma Kapoor – Mentalhood
When it was reported that 90s’ icon Karisma Kapoor is set to make her digital debut, all hell broke loose. Karisma Kapoor played the central character in Mentalhood, a show that dealt with modern mothers and their first-world problems. Produced by Film Farm India, Mentalhood was of its kind show, and its treatment of characters was widely appreciated. Also, let’s accept it, we all binge-watched the show, for Lolo! And God, she still looks drop gorgeous.
Nimrat Kaur – The Test Case
Vinay Waikul and Nagesh Kukunoor’s directorial The Test Case was about the protagonist training to be the first woman test case in a combat role, within the Indian Army. Nimrat Kaur played the part of Capt. Shikha Sharma. Nimrat won several digital awards for her performance. It was the performance of the year. And we all know what a terrific actor Nimrat has been. We are waiting to see more of her.
Arunoday Singh – Apaharan
One of the most successful ALTBalaji shows has been Apaharan. The show, which was based in the heartlands of India, was widely appreciated for its storyline, rustic vibes, the massive twist, and the show’s lead Arunoday Singh. Who could have expected Singh, a tall man, to play a quirky character? Rudra Shrivastava, played by Singh, became everyone’s top favourite. And Singh became an OTT favourite just with his first show.
Mallika Sherawat – Booo Sabki Phategi
In the same show, not just Mallika but another big Bollywood actor was making his debut. It was Tusshar Kapoor. The comedy star who has made everyone laugh on the floors with his comic timing in films like the Golmaal series was seen in his usual avatar in Booo Sabki Phategi. He played the lead in the show opposite Mallika Sherawat. And both the actors received much appreciation for their characters.
