Film Industry has an irreversible remark for being unjust towards newcomers, especially women. Bollywood is not exceptional from this unrighteous category.
Star Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas reveals in her memoir ‘Unfinished’ about an unjust she went through during her beginning days. Chopra Jonas never intended to become the internationally renowned entertainer and public figure she is today. Before she was an actor, producer and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, she was the daughter of two doctors, dreaming of becoming an aeronautical engineer. In her memoir, she wrote that a filmmaker had asked her to undress as part of a song that she was supposed to film.
She said: “I was a newcomer in a patriarchal industry and I’d learned that it was better not to poke the bear. Keep your head down and keep smiling was the rule for the girls, and I was already pushing the boundaries.”
“So rather than explaining what had happened, I told him I’d misunderstood the character and wasn’t comfortable playing her, and that I’d send a cheque to reimburse them for the two days they’d have to reshoot with someone else.” She added.
