Mzaalo Partners with Lara Dutta and Shayamal Vallabhjee for Virtual Fundraiser “I Breathe For India” to Raise Money for COVID-19

 Mzaalo, a gamified streaming platform and entertainment ecosystem is partnering with A-list celebrities Lara Dutta and Shayamal Vallabhjee to raise funds for COVID-19 in light of the latest wave of the virus. The “I Breathe For India” fundraiser will take place this Sunday, the 9th of May, from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM IST/ 8:30 PM – 10:30 PM GST.

In light of the recent COVID-19 spike in India, recording over 414,000 cases in the last 48 hours. This fundraiser was created to support the country by donating funds to procure and distribute medical supplies, including ventilators, setting up vaccination and isolation centres, and much more.

Mzaalo joins the virtual fundraising with an endeavour to reach people to crowdsource funds to help India breathe in these trying times. As the main streaming partner, Mzaalo will make the virtual fundraiser available to stream live globally on the Mzaalo app, available in the App Store and Google Play. While giving users all around the world a place to watch this heartwarming fundraiser hosted by Lara Dutta and Shayamal Vallabhjee, and joined by Amitabh Bachchan, AR Rahman and many others, with the mutual goal to help India receive significant donations for the country.

The “I Breathe For India” campaign is bringing together entertainment icons from Bollywood and Sports in a never-before-attempted effort to raise funds for Give India in what will hopefully be a hugely successful fund-raising project. The Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE) and other partners of the “I Breathe For India” campaign have also pledged a $1 million matching sponsorship to aid India in its battle against COVID-19.

All funds raised will go towards supporting:

  1. Acquisition and distribution of medical supplies including oxygen concentrators, oxygen cylinders, oximeters, ventilators and bipaps These will be distributed through the government, to verified hospitals, and through verified on-ground non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
  1. Direct financial support through verified NGOs for families under the poverty line that have been significantly affected by the crisis, and providing meals and ration kits to needy families.
  1. Providing support to vaccination centres to strengthen the nations efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19 and supplying an infrastructure to set up isolation centers for those affected by the virus.
