Modi expresses concern over global trade slowdown

Antalya (Turkey), Nov 16 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed concern over the slowdown in global trade at the G20 Summit here.

“PM @narendramodi begins inerv’n @ working lunch on trade and energy, raises concerns about slowdown in global trade,” Vikas Swarup, spokesperson of the external affairs ministry, tweeted.
Modi said a transparent, equitable, non-discriminatory and rule-based global trading system was essential for the global economy.
“It is absolutely vital that the Doha Development Round achieves its goals. We look forward to a successful outcome in Nairobi in December,” he stated.
The prime minister also said that energy, ecology and economy were deeply integrated in this context.
