India’s fastest-growing Hindi general entertainment channel, The Q, continues to entertain the audiences with its gripping shows. After the successful run of ‘Jurm Ka Chehra’ The Q channel is all set to bring OTT platform, MX Player’s widely acclaimed series ‘Aashram – Aastha ki Murat ya Chhal Ki soorat’ to the homes of Indians across the length and breadth of the country. Starring popular Bollywood actor Bobby Deol in the lead and directed by acclaimed Director Prakash Jha, Aashram is a crime fiction show inspired by true events. It is supported by a stellar cast such as Tridha Choudhury, Aditi Sudhir Pohankar and Anupriya Goenka amongst others in pivotal roles. The first season of the series will air exclusively on The Q from Monday to Friday at 8:30 pm starting October 11, 2021.
‘Aashram – Aastha ki Murat ya Chhal Ki Soorat’, traces the journey of a meteoric rise of a small-time soothsayer into India’s top Godman – Baba Nirala Kashipurwala. He derives power from the influence he has over the downtrodden and gullible of the society. He has often stood for them and they consider him as their Messiah. However, as the story progresses, we see some women go missing and as the investigations begins, it all gets linked to Baba Nirala Kaashipurwala. Is Baba Nirala really a messiah for the people or just a conman behind the façade of a baba… we will find out as the story progresses!
We Indians have more faith in Godmen than God and have always been enamoured by the charms of the Godmen. For every problem we face, we see a ray of hope and revival in these Godmen and believe their tricks to be ‘Acts Of God’! However, not every Aashram is the abode of divinity and not every Baba is the solution to our problems and the show tells the audience to be careful and vigilant of Godmen. It is a fictional story inspired by true events in the country, where men in disguise of Godman take advantage of people’s vulnerability, simplicity and fear of God.
Speaking on the series Ashram, Bobby Deol shared, “As an actor I have been trying to do different kinds of roles in different shades. Here, I got to play a complete different character. It has been so well and interestingly written.” He further added, “There are so many con men and criminals in the country and around the world who take advantage of blind faith. This is something I thought the series would bring across a message and make people aware of what is happening around them. The way the plot moves, one will find the mixture of all the elements like mystery, thrill, drama, emotions, intrigue. These are also something that I like to watch so it also inspired me to be a part of this fictional series”
Speaking on the synergies between digital and television and on bringing Aashram for linear TV viewers, Simran Hoon, CEO at The Q said, “Great content does wonders irrespective of its platform. Having understood the pulse of our viewers, we at The Q continue to make efforts in bringing content that is strong, and unique with a compelling and relevant plot and storyline. Airing Aashram on TV is in sync with our strategy to bring the best from digital to TV. We will continue to pioneer with such initiatives to help strengthen The Q’s position in the industry while being the preferred entertainment destination for viewers across India.”
This is a one of a kind initiative by The Q, where they bring the best of digital content to television for the masses. So, watch Ashram to protect yourself and your family from the dark world of fake Godmen. The series will premiere with its first season on television exclusively, from Monday to Friday at 8.30PM only on THE Q.
